What is Scrimba Explain?

Ask a question, and get a narrated video lesson back, built while you watch.

Here's an example of an Explainer:

Scrimba Explain turns any question into a narrated video lesson. You describe what you want explained (a concept, a codebase, a pull request, an architecture) and get back an explainer: a sequence of slides with spoken narration, built for you on the spot and rendered live while you watch.

An explainer is not a screen recording. Each slide is real, typed content: code the narration points into, diffs, diagrams, animations, images, and more. Because nothing is filmed, every explainer is created in seconds, narrated in your language, and watchable at your pace.

Ways to create one

On Scrimba. Go to scrimba.com/explain, type what you want explained, and watch it build. You can pick a teaching style and attach documents. See Your first explainer.

From ChatGPT or Codex. Install the @Explain Video Generator plugin and mention it mid-conversation, about the topic you're discussing, code it just wrote, anything.

From your coding agent. Claude Code, Codex, and any other MCP-capable tool can connect to Scrimba Explain and produce explainers of your actual code: a branch, a PR, a subsystem. Here the agent writes the lesson itself, with full access to your repository. See Claude Code or the MCP server.

In your browser. The Chrome extension turns the page you're reading into an explainer, played right on top of the page.

Narration languages

Explainers are narrated in 33 languages, with a voice native to each one. A Spanish explainer gets a Spanish voice, not an English voice reading Spanish. Ask for the explainer in the language you want it in, and both the slides and the narration follow.
